Founded by Susan Crawford, who now advises President Obama on science, technology, and innovation policy, OneWebDay is an annual, global event which is celebrated every September 22 since 2006.  Much like Earth Day, which inspired it, OneWebDay

  • provides an opportunity for communities to celebrate the power of Web for positive change,
  • to take action to protect what is precious about it, and
  • to educate the public and policy-makers on key social, economic, and political Web issues.

OneWebDay LogoThis year's theme -- One Web.  For All -- is all about digital inclusion, digital literacy, and working to close the digital divide.  OneWebDay organizers will call attention to efforts that work to ensure that anyone who wants it has access to the Internet and the skills they need to engage in our new communications environment.

OneWebDay is organized locally by volunteers and coordinated globally by OneWebDay, Inc. and their partner organizations.  Already, groups all over the world, from Philadelphia to the Philippines are gearing up for the strongest OneWebDay ever.  Check out http://onewebday.org/onewebday-teams/ to see all the local groups that have gotten started. While there, be sure to join the OWD Columbus Group!

The purpose of the Planning Meeting for OneWebDay Columbus is for all those who want to be involved to help decide what our OneWebDay activity should be.

OneWebDay Columbus is being coordinated by ShinyDoor. Please contact tommy<<at>>shinydoor.com with questions.
